Who enjoys a delicious beef burger? How about a juicy steak on the BBQ? Many people in New Zealand enjoy eating meat, however, about 10% of New Zealanders are vegetarian. Vegetarians don’t eat any meat or meat products. Instead, most vegetarian food comes from plant-based products.

Pat Brown is the founder of Impossible Foods - a company that makes food (“meat”) from plants. They have discovered a way to genetically engineer plants to form a product that tastes, looks, smells and feels like meat. Pretty amazing ‘eh?!
Let’s look at the nutritional facts for two of the burgers made by the Impossible Foods company - the New Impossible Burger and the Original Impossible Burger.

  1. The new Impossible burger has 240 less calories than the original Impossible Burger.a

  1. The new Impossible burger has 40% less of the daily value of saturated fat than the original Impossible Burger.

  1. The new Impossible burger has 16% less of the daily value of sodium than the original Impossible Burger.a

Day 4 Activity 3 (Teaser Week) Summer Learning Journey

The current President of the United States of America (U.S.A.) is a man named Donald Trump. He was elected President in 2016. At the time, he promised the American people that he would build a wall between the U.S.A. and Mexico - the country immediately south of the United States. He made this promise because he wanted to stop people from crossing the American-Mexican border.
Earlier this year, a migrant caravan (people moving in a large group) came through South and Central America on its way to the Mexican-American border. The people in the caravan were heading to America to find jobs and build a better life for themselves and their families. You can learn more about them in this video.
Donald Trump’s plan to build the wall is very controversial (some people strongly agree with his idea and others strongly disagree).
I Think It's A Bad Idea Building A Wall Between Mexico And America, Because People Are Allowed To Travel Where Ever They Want and It's Really Stupid That Mexicans Are Not Allowed To Access America. So I Disagree With His Idea.

Day 4 Activity 2 (Teaser Week) Summer Learning Journey

Mahatma Gandhi was an activist best known for his role in helping India become an independent country in 1947. Prior to this, India was under British rule. During the fight to become free from England, Gandhi (and others) led peaceful protests, marches, and hunger strikes in India. His birthday (2nd October) is widely celebrated in India as the International Day of Nonviolence.
Gandhi originally studied to be a lawyer in London, England. When he completed his studies, he got a job in South Africa where he saw that people were treated differently because of their skin colour. He thought this was unfair and wrong, and so he organised protests to highlight the rights of Indians living in South Africa.
Gandhi impacted the world by using non-violent protest to bring about change. Recently, school students around the world have followed his lead and participated in peaceful protests about climate change. These were started by a girl called Greta Thunberg who, like Gandhi, is using nonviolent protest to try and make a change.

I would choose non violently, because violence is a serious thing around the world. People daily get beaten up either by gangs on the streets or in their own home. That is why I have chosen non violently because it helps stop violence around the world.

Day 4 Activity 1 (Teaser week) Summer Learning Journey.

Day 3 Activity 3 (Teaser Week) Summer Learning Journey

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer born back in 1451. He started sailing when he was 14 years old and spent a lot of his life looking for a passageway from his home continent of Europe to Asia. He never found one. Instead, he spent much of his time in the Americas (North, Central and South).
Christopher Columbus was, and still is, a very controversial man. Some people would even call him ‘infamous’ (well-known for doing something bad) because he spent much of his life sailing around the world, enslaving innocent people, spreading diseases and taking natural resources from the countries that he visited. His actions had a significant impact on the lives of others. Who has had a significant impact on your life?

Jimmy Donaldson also known as MrBeast has been my inspiration since day one. I have looked up to him my whole life and the reasons are pretty easy. If you don’t know MrBeast has been partnering up with Arbor Day and has made a site called team trees, and you can simply donate any amount of money that amount of money will be the number of trees planted. So far this has been the biggest charity event ever. The second reason is that he is so selfless with his money and either gives it away to the homeless or his friends.

MrBeast is my biggest inspiration and if it wasn’t for him then there would be no more trees.

Day 2 Activity 2 (Teaser Week) Summer Learning Journey.

Activity 2: Equal Pay for Equal Work?
Fiao’o Fa’amausili was the captain of the New Zealand (NZ) Black Ferns, our
national women’s rugby team, until 2018. The Black Ferns have been a very successful team, winning the
Women’s Rugby World Cup a record five times. Wow!

Despite this success, the Black ferns have only recently become ‘professional’
rugby players who are paid to play rugby. Although they are paid,
the Black Ferns make less money than members
of the men’s professional rugby team - the All Blacks.
This difference in pay is often called the gender pay gap’ and it is not
uncommon in sports

I Agree that all Athletes Genders should get the same amount of payment that every other Men Athletes receive,
Because It’s not fair that Women Athletes wins a tournament and does not get the less payment than the men.

Maths - Treasure Map

This is my working out to find the lost treasure!

Captain Black heart buries his treasure but loses his treasure map! But all is not lost. His trusty crew remember different bits of the map.
"I remember drawing it with 5 squares each way,'' says the Captain.
"There was a row of three trees running due East from the square (1,1)", Peg Leg Pete says. "You put each one of them on a different square."
"Weren’t there four granite boulders going due South from (5,5)?" John asks. "I think you put one of them each in a square too."
"Ah!. Now I remember!" yells the Captain. "I buried the treasure halfway between the first rock and the most western tree!"

Where is the treasure?

Hello today on my ssr (Somthing Silent reading) it's not somthing but anyways I was reading about drama by Raina Telgemeier she's an wonderful author, so far I've read smile it was an joyful book ok ok I don't want to spoil the book but if you have already read this amazing book well it's about this girl named Raina oh boy when I was up to this part I felt so terrible for her so anyways her and her friend were running towards Raina house and it was dark so there were running then her friend was in the lead but Raina tried to grab her but she tripped and she hit her adult teeth on the ground and it went straight in to her gums and it was brutal there was blood all over the place it was horrible.

Some of the bits of the adults teeth came off so there took her to the dentist and she got an x-ray and he could see the teeth in her gum and Raina said that her life was ruin but later on her teeth were back to normal, but she had to go to the dentist and get braces on her teeth to keep the teeth straight and she went to school and she liked this boy called Sammy and he had braces aswell but afterwards he asked if Raina to come to the school dance because it was Valentines on the school dance day also Sammy was going to give Raina a gift on that day but Raina wasn't there she was going to go in but she felt dizzy and wrong so she went home and then the next day Sammy was upset to not see Raina there but Sammy still gave the gift to her still which was to kind of him but there broke up and the she still liked Sammy but there never seen getothe ever since then but she still like this boy called Sean this was when she liked him in ninth grad she liked him but Sean never knew but afterwards she didn't like Sean or Sammy because she had these cool friends that were kind to her and she forgot about them and later on her teeth were back to normal, you girls and boy's should read this book it's an comic by the way.

First day of school

today was the first day of school in 2019 now I'm in Mrs Tofa's class and I am feeling kinda nervous but when I spend more time with the class I will gain more convinced and learn more things I never learnt before.
